Terms of Use for Manabu: Learn Japanese.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Manabu mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. Our handling of personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using Manabu, you confirm that you meet the minimum age requirements in your jurisdiction.

If you are under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

Parents or guardians are responsible for supervising the use of the Service by minors.

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

2. Accounts

You may be required to create an account to access certain features.

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
• All activities that occur under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

You may begin some learning activities without signing in. Local guest progress may be associated with your account when you sign in. You can initiate permanent deletion through Profile → Settings → Account → Delete account. See our account deletion guide for provider processing times and purchase records. Account deletion does not cancel a store subscription or guarantee that deleted progress can be recovered.

3. Service Description

Manabu provides Japanese language learning content, including lessons, reading and listening exercises, and personalized learning features.

We may update, modify, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without prior notice.

4. Subscriptions and Purchases

4.1 Subscription Plans

Manabu may offer auto-renewing subscription plans (e.g., monthly or yearly).

4.2 Billing

Payment will be charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.

4.3 Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

4.4 Managing Subscriptions

You can manage or cancel your subscription through your App Store or Google Play account settings.

4.5 Pricing

Prices may vary depending on your region and are displayed at the time of purchase.

RevenueCat validates store purchases and helps manage premium access. Use Settings → Subscription → Restore purchases to recover eligible access with the store account used for the original purchase. A restore is not a new charge. Prices, product availability, billing periods and any offer conditions shown by the store at confirmation govern the purchase.

5. Lifetime Purchase

Manabu may offer a one-time "lifetime" purchase.

"Lifetime" refers to access for the lifetime of the Service, not the lifetime of the user.

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time. In such cases, lifetime access may no longer be available.

6. Free Features

Some features of the Service may be available for free. We reserve the right to modify or limit free access at any time.

7. Refunds

All purchases are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play.

We do not issue refunds directly. Refund requests must be submitted through the respective platform.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
• Abuse or exploit the Service or its systems
• Circumvent payment systems or subscription mechanisms
• Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purposes

Violation may result in account termination.

9. Intellectual Property

All content in Manabu, including but not limited to:

• Lessons
• Educational materials
• Designs and illustrations
• Branding and interface

are protected by intellectual property laws and remain the property of Manabu.

You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute content without permission.

10. Disclaimer

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

We do not guarantee:

• Uninterrupted access
• Error-free operation
• Complete accuracy of educational content

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Manabu shall not be liable for:

• Indirect or consequential damages
• Loss of data, revenue, or profits
• Issues arising from third-party platforms (App Store / Google Play)

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time for violations of these Terms.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Third-Party Services

The Service may rely on third-party platforms such as Apple App Store, Google Play, and payment providers.

We are not responsible for issues arising from these platforms.

We use Supabase for account and app data, PostHog for product analytics and RevenueCat for purchase management. Product analytics can link onboarding and learning activity to your account and verified purchase events. Session Replay is disabled. Advertising measurement and website analytics are described separately in the Privacy Policy. Acceptance of these Terms does not replace separate privacy or tracking consent where it is required.

15. Governing Law

Applicable law and any mandatory consumer protections in your jurisdiction remain in effect. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be waived.
